About Artist

Ratthakorn Disjayen (born 1986, Nonthaburi, Thailand) is an artist interested in the relationship between death and human existence. Disjayen's conceptual sculptures often use human bones as symbols to convey the notion of death embedded in every individual, a truth that is often overlooked. Despite frequently witnessing the deaths of others, people often fail to recognize their own mortality until they experience the loss of a beloved family member.

Currently, Ratthakorn continues to explore the theme of death in relation to human lifestyles in his projects. His objective is to awaken people to the reality of death, thereby fostering a mindset of living life with caution.

The core of the artist's artistic approach is a "Conceptual-Driven Practice," which aims to deconstruct and reassemble symbols with fixed meanings in society to create new, critical meanings. The artist demonstrates an interest in "structure," both in the anatomical sense (the skeleton) and in the social sense. Therefore, the artist's self-definition is not merely as a "skeleton sculptor" but is defined as an "Artist of Social and Political Critique via Symbolic Deconstruction."

Ratthakorn employs both traditional hand-sculpting techniques combined with 3D software sculpting, creating pieces with resin 3D printing to replicate real-life objects. By blending imagination with symbols, he conveys concepts through these pieces. This series aims to raise awareness about death, an inevitable truth affecting people of all races, genders, and ages. "Death is one of the most invaluable resources that everyone possesses, yet no one ever manages to utilize it for their own benefit.
