About Artist
Ratthakorn Disjaiyen ’s artistic trajectory began in the structured world of industrial and graphic design. However, a profound turning point occurred when he faced the sudden loss of his beloved grandparents in close succession. This deep personal grief catalyzed a return to his childhood aspirations and led him to pursue the study of Buddhist Art. For Ratthakorn, this loss was not merely an end, but a "final lesson" on the fragility of life—an awakening that transformed his sorrow into a creative exploration of mortality as a reminder to live with mindfulness.
As a conceptual-driven artist, Ratthakorn utilizes his technical expertise to deconstruct and reassemble societal symbols. He employs "human bones" as a primary signifier of the inevitable truth embedded within every individual. By integrating these anatomical structures with objects of cultural significance, he challenges fixed meanings and social hierarchies. Whether it is the transmutation of the "Chada" (Thai headdress) and "Funeral Urns"—symbols of high status and beauty—into skeletal forms, or the reimagining of crowns, luxury furniture, and weaponry, his work strips away layers of ego and power to reveal the ultimate void within.
Defining himself not merely as a sculptor but as a practitioner who uses skill to serve a deeper philosophy, Ratthakorn remains dedicated to exploring the truths of existence through the intricate relationship between mortality and the world around us. His work seeks to engage a global audience, with participation in both domestic and international exhibitions, such as the 100+ ASIA ART SEASON in Shenzhen, China, and most recently, a significant exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). These milestones reaffirm his commitment to utilizing art as a profound instrument for reflecting the ultimate realities of life."
